What Triggers An Addiction
Alcohol and drug addiction is something that may or may not just pop into someones mind, and then they automatically become addicted. In many cases, addiction to drugs or alcohol is often triggered by something much larger.
In teen drug and alcohol abuse, the triggers have something to do with peer pressure, or their upbringing. Peer pressure is something that affects all kinds of kids in all age groups. If a teenager feels pressured into doing drugs or drinking alcohol, they may give into it and can become addicted to it. This can lead to them peer pressuring other teens as well.
For adults, an addiction is caused by a large amount of things. A family incident, a sudden loss, marital issues and more. These triggers can open the doors to potential drug and alcohol addicts.
These are things that one should look out for in a person, if you have your assumptions that they may be addicted or will become addicted.
The most important thing to remember is that if you are struggling with a sudden loss or situation that can turn your life upside down, drugs and alcohol are not the answer. They will only get rid of the pain for a while, but it all eventually comes rushing back to you.
There are many other alternatives for dealing with a life problem, such as therapy, meditation, exercise, yoga, traveling and more. These are all things that can replace a potential addiction.
